Shaileshwori Temple
शैलेश्वरी मन्दिर, डोटी
Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality, Doti, Sudurpashchim Province

Overview
Shaileshwori Temple stands at Silgadhi, the historic hill town of Doti in far-western Nepal, dedicated to the goddess Shaileshwari, a form of Bhagwati. Counted among the Shakti Peethas, it is the foremost temple of the Doti region and a major centre of pilgrimage and festival, especially the Navaratri fairs.
Historical background
The shrine is tied to the old Doti kingdom (a successor of the Khasa Malla realm) that ruled much of far-western Nepal, and has been venerated for centuries. A perpetual sacred fire and longstanding ritual traditions mark its importance to the region.
Cultural significance
Shaileshwori is the principal goddess temple of Sudurpashchim's hill heartland, drawing large crowds during Chaitra and Ashwin Navaratri and serving as the ritual focus of Silgadhi and the wider Doti district.
Architectural details
The temple is a tiered shrine in the regional stone-and-timber style within a walled precinct in Silgadhi bazaar, housing the goddess's image and an eternal flame, with subsidiary shrines and rest-houses around the courtyard.
Condition & conservation
Current condition: Active pilgrimage site, centre of Doti's faith
Maintained by a local temple committee; an important but under-documented far-western Shakti shrine.
